Slightly Stoopid originally hails from Ocean Beach, San Diego in laid-back Southern California. They have released ten albums (three live); their most recent project ‘Top of the World’ came out on August 14, 2012. The band’s sound is an eclectic mix of reggae, rock, blues, hip-hop, metal, punk and funk. While still in high school, Slightly Stoopid signed to Bradley Nowell’s (from Sublime fame) Skunk Records. The nucleus of the original band was Miles Doughty, Kyle McDonald and Adam Bausch. In 1996, the band released their first studio album entitled ‘Slightly $toopid’, which featured Nowell on the track ‘Prophet’. The band’s 2005 album ‘Closer to the Sun’ includes collaborations with legendary reggae artists Barrington Levy and Scientist. ‘Closer to the Sun’, sold more than 25,000 units in its first two months and made significant ripples on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The group’s many influences include Operation Ivy, Rancid, Sublime, Yellowman, Buju Banton, NWA and Eazy-E and countless others.
Slightly Stoopid is the ultimate live band. Since their formation in 1994, the group has toured extensively including appearances at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Coachella, Austin City Limits, Japan, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Dominican Republic and innumerable others countries and venues.
